First Pullet Egg!

FIRST PULLET EGG!

Today one of the new hens laid her first egg. So tiny, yet perfect! This group of hens is now 5 months old and this is exactly when they should start laying. However, with decreasing daylight we will have to put some lights in their hen house to bring everyone else along into laying. So, soon you will start to see some small eggs in your boxes.

The other good news is that we had a good apple harvest just before the big wind storm on Saturday. In the barn, for your tasting pleasure, are 3 types of apples: Zestari, Akane and Chehalis. There are small paper bags on the table for you to help yourself. They are a gift, but we would like feedback on what apples you like best. Enjoy!
